Mohandessin and Dokki sit in west-central Cairo. They attract buyers who want wide apartments at a lower price per metre, close to downtown and Nasr City.
The advantage: large layouts, often with a balcony for every room, and a walkable neighbourhood. Prices per metre run clearly below New Cairo and Sheikh Zayed.
The trade-off: most inventory is resale, and buildings are old. Renovation cost must be priced in before buying, including plumbing, wiring and lifts.
